2019 Rec Coach Application

Coaches Application

Thank you for your interest in coaching this year.

Please fill out this registration form if you're interested in coaching this season!

Junior (10U), Major (12U), and Senior (14U/16U) division player evaluations are scheduled for Saturday, January 19th.  At least one coach from each prospective team should attend (for Juniors, Majors, and Seniors).  If you have an assistant coach that you would like to work with, please contact the division representative.

Teams in the T-Ball and Minor divisions are assembled based on age and experience.

Draft Day for Junior (10U), Major (12U), and Senior (14U/16U) division will be held on/before Monday, January 28th. A coaches meeting will take place prior.

Teams can start practicing as early as Saturday, February 2nd. Opening Day will be held on Saturday, March 2nd.  Please let your division rep know what practice days and times work best for your schedule.

Spirit recreational spring ages are 4-16, in five divisions; T-Ball (6U), Minors (8U), Juniors (10U), Majors (12U), and Seniors (14U/16U). Your daughter will be placed on your team. The league will review coach and assistant coach pairings to attempt to balance competition within divisions.

Spirit of Morgan Hill requires that all head and assistant coaches be ACE Certified with ASA (includes successfully passing a background check) no later than Thursday, January 31, 2019.  Visit to register.  This is a two part process, with the background check portion taking up to several days before being cleared to take the softball training session and test.

Spirit will continue to implement the LiveScan background check as an additional step in our background check process for coaches. We will be in touch with all prospective coaches about the details once we have them ironed out.

Time Commitment:

Each division is slightly different depending on age.  T-ball players only have games on Saturdays with a ½ hour practice prior to each game.  T-ball coaches may choose to hold practices during the week. For minors (8U) and above, teams play one game on Saturday, one game during the week, and have one weekly practice.  Doubleheaders may be played on Saturdays to pick up games due to odd numbers of teams.  As field schedules allow, some older division coaches may choose to add a second practice per week.

Spirit of Morgan Hill Mission:
The mission of Spirit of Morgan Hill Girls Softball is to introduce, establish, teach, and promote fast pitch softball to girls in the South County.  By creating a safe, fun, and positive environment, girls can enjoy the game while enhancing their self-esteem and self-confidence.
